Monitoring of arsenic contents in foodstuffs of everyday consumption in Slovakia in 1996-1998

Summary results of arsenic cotent in foodstuffs as determined within consumption basket monitoring in 1996-1998 are shown. The total number of analysed samples was 600 including 68% samples with arsenic contents lower than the quantification limit 0.005 mg/kg. Average arsenic content was 0,007 mg/kg in drinks, 0.008 mg.kg-1 in fruits, 0.013 mg/kg in breads, 0.015 mg/kg in oils and 0.022 mg/kg in rice. No arsenic content exceeding the relevant maximum hygienic limit was found
