The influence of vermisol on the yield and quality of tomatoes
1999
Lozek, O. | Gracova, A. (Slovenska Polnohospodarska Univ., Nitra (Slovak Republic))
Over 2 years, a small-plot experiment was conducted to study the effects of vermisol, applied together with nitrogenous nutrition, on the tomato yield formation (Slava Porynia variety) and on the nitrate content of tomato fruits. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse conditions on medium, heavy black soil. The full N-nutrition and the use of 100 ml vermisol per hectare, applied by watering 3 weeks after planting tomato seedlings, resulted in a statistically signficant increase of 7.3% in the tomato yield. At the same time, the nitrate content of tomato fruits showed a significant decrease of 15%. The positive stimulating effect of vermisol was reflected in the growth of tomato natural production, which increased by 47.7 kg per kg of nitrogen applied
