Factors affecting agricultural sector in gross regional product: A case study of the Northeastern region

Objectives of this study are : to present general relationship between agricultural credit and agricultural sector in gross regional product, to analyze factors affecting agricultural sector in gross regional product of the Northeastern region, major city, minor city, and network city, and to compare the impact of each factor on the agricultural sector among the three cities. Results of this study show that distribution of agricultural credit through the three cities is unequal. The ratio between the agricultural credit and the agricultural sector in the major city is higher than that of the rest two cities. The analysis using 1976-1991 data significantly shows that major factors affecting agricultural sector in gross regional product by using cobb-douglas production function are irrigated area, agricultural labor, value of chemical fertilizer and pesticide, value of agricultural machine and equipment. The results of the study implies that the government should pay more attention to expansion of irrigated area, improvement of efficiency of agricultural labor, demonstration and training on properly use of the chemicals, machine and equipment.
