The principal possibility of using the microbial polysaccharides, separately and in combination with surface active agents, for protecting the useful plants from virus diseases and insect vectors of viruses is revealed. The 3-5-time treatment of the potatoes with derivated yeast manannes in the period of mass insect transmigration protected the plants from repeated infection with viruses and aphids. The protective effect of the polysaccharides was enhanced in presence of other surface active agents (n-alkanes, n-alkanesulphoacids and dimethylsulphoxides) as well as antiviral agents - analogs of purine and pyrimidine bases
