Yield and quality of silage maize used as male's components in seed production
1999
Radanovic, Z.
The purpose of this work was the analysis of yield components and silage maize quality. The following inbred lines were used: 21 NS, 115/II NS, ZPPL 196 and ZPPL 80. The inbred lines 21 NS (12.0 t/ha) and ZPPL 80 (11.9 t/ha) had higher significant yield than the other ones - 115/II NS and ZPPL 196. The most content of dry matter was at ZPPL 80 inbred line, resulting in the highest yield of dry matter in it (3.3 t/ha). The highly significant differences among examined inbred lines are confirmed for: lenght of stalk to panicle, total lenght of stalk, a leaf area below cob, mass of overground part of plants, mass of dry matter and portion of stalk, leaf and cob in yield of silage. The content of crude proteins in pollinator inbred lines was from 7.58 to 9.07%, crude cellulose from 21.42 to 26.36%, crude fat matter from 1.69 to 2.04%, crude ash from 4.25 to 5.22% and percentage of N-free extract matter was from 56.76 to 66.01%. The energetic value of inbred line pollinator forage was from 5.04 to 6.25 NEL or 4.85-5.63 NEM, more exactly, the energetic value of silage was from 5.29 to 6.15 NEL or 5.19-6.30 NEM.
