Specific geographic position and climatic conditions of Yugoslavia bring about wealth in genetic potentials of medicinal and aromatic plants. Exploitation of these plant species is at enviable level, at same time imposing a need for their protection from irrational abusement. Long term researches of their original domiciles have showed that beside the regular changes in plant world, drastic decrease of certain plant species and even their disappearance at some locations, have happened. Substantial prerequisite for preservation of species diversity of these plants at their original domiciles is as urgent and massive possible orientation on commercial production of the most jeopardized and pharmacologically the most useful species. In favour of this fact goes an increasing need for raw materials, which can not be satisfied with the exploitation of spontaneous flora only, although it still represents very important source.
