The implementation of the Danube-Tisza-Danube Hydrosystem (Yugoslavia) started in 1947 and progressed gradually, till its completion about fifteen years ago. It is now timely to compare the plans with the results. The system is described consistently with its multiple purposes (flood control, drainage, irrigation, water supply of population and industry, waste water disposal, navigation, etc.). The main features of the construction are reported, and the planned and achieved effects compared, with an outlook to perspective developments.
