Preliminary design regarding the boiler for biomass combustion on the grate

Due to its specific characteristics, biomass as fuel on the grate, requires special conditions for air distribution around the grid for the purpose of full combustion. There also appears the need for the boiler furnace to be properly determined and designed because of the high volatiles content. A boiler, formerly designed for the straw bales (biomass) combustion, produces dry saturated steam or hot water. The boiler's efficiency rate is 75%, which is significantly higher than with currently used similar devices. If necessary, due to lack of straw bales, gas fuel combustion is foreseen. The boiler enables production of 0.14 kg/s dry saturated steam, under the pressure of 6 bar and temperature of 165 deg C, or 1.26 kg/s hot water under the pressure of 6 bar and temperature of 130/70 deg C.
