Possibilities of use of biomass in boilers and furnaces with fluidized bed combustion as a source

A significant contribution to the rational use of energy, especially in communal areas, is the use of biomass wherever possible. Fulfillment of this task is not possible with the use of only classical combustion technologies. In the paper, fluidized bed combustion technology is described which can satisfy current demands. Shown are worldwide usages of biomass in fluidized bed furnaces and boilers. Domestic (Yugoslav) state of the art in the area of fluidized bed combustion is presented, especially concerning various designs, constructions and examples of industrial use.
