Respecting their function, utilization and expenditures during the production process plantations may be considered means for production having, however, biological properties. The major characteristics substantial for the evaluation of the means covered: large investments at the establishment, linkage to a particular site, a comparatively long period of exploitation with different yield intensities and regular yields with each of the successive years. In order to evaluate the means, an investment model was developed and analyzed based on an apple orchard at three growing stages using real data obtained in practice. The analysis was based on the possibility of evaluating the plantation according to its growing (establishment or purchase) and yield values. Respecting some hypotheses, the possibilities of applying different modes of plantation evaluation considering, however, various purposes depending on practice requirements were studied. Apart from the calculated depreciation of the plantation, the possibility of applying different methods of evaluation of the economic efficacy of investments for plantation establishment was studied. Considering the length of the exploitation period, dynamic methods for investment calculation were given priority. The reasin is that the factor time covering the calculated interesrs may be expected to have a substantial effect on the economic results achieved.
