[Endosymbionts of Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas) from Braslavskie Lake System and Dnieper-Bug Canal]

Studies were conducted in 6 lakes in Braslav Region and Dnieper-Bug Canal in Belarus. During our dissections, we found 11 types of parasites and other symbionts, including ciliates (Conchophthirus acuminatus, Ancistrumina limnica and Ophryoglena sp.), trematodes (Echinostomatidae, Phyllodistomum sp., and Bucephalus polymorphus), nematodes, oligochaetes, mites, chironomids, and leeches. The most common symbiont was ciliate C.acuminatus. Their prevalence vary among waterbodies from 11 to 100% and mean infection intensity vary significantly from 12(+-)1.5 to 372(+-)112 ciliate/mussel. Species composition of Dreissena symbionts differ between Braslavskaya Lake System and Dnieper-Bug Canal. Ophryoglena sp. was found in Dnieper-Bug Canal only
