Numerical taxonomy and DNA homology of Bradyrhizobium sp. (Arachis)

Fifty two strains of Bradyrhizobium sp. (Arachis) isolated from Sichuan, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, together with twelve reference strains were tested by using numerical analysesof 131 phenotypic characteristics. Twenty of the strains were chosen randomly to study the DNA relatedness with B. japonicum type strain ATCC10324T, or B. elkanii type strain USDA76T. All but three strains formed six clusters at the boundary of 82% similarity in numerical analysis, which indicated that they were diverse with their physiological and biochemical aspects . The results of DNA relatedness test showed that Bradyrhizobium sp. (Arachis) were related to B. japonicum and B. elkanii
