The influence of pesticides on ground beetle fauna on cereals

In the investigations of feeding behaviour of predators have been found that they consume different arthropods and in that way successfully diminish number of pests. General predator e.g. ground beetles, rove beetles and spiders can be of great economic importance in regulating pest populations on the field. It is therefore important to minimize pesticide effects to the arthropod fauna in a crop. We have tested different pesticides during 1997-1998. All carabids were strongly effected by the insecticide Fastac (alfa-cypermethrin) and Decis (deltamethrin) application. Insecticides caused the reduction in predators number 42-62 per cent during the trial period. The effect of herbicide Lontrel (cloroplyralid) was weaker (19 per cent)
