[Trends of the rural tourism development in Lithuania]

The history of the tourism development in Lithuania is reviewed. The tourism as a branch of the national economy and the rural tourism as a form of national tourism are explained. The facilities offered by the rural tourism such as different journeys excursions, holidays in the countryside are described. The forms of active and passive rest are considered. The dependence of the rural tourism forms on the needs and requirements of the tourists are discussed the importance of the rural tourism development for the regional infrastructure is emphasized.
