Chlorophyll content dynamics of winter wheat

Field trials were carried out at the Research Station of the Latvia University of Agriculture. Four winter wheat varieties were investigated with the aim to determine the dynamics of chlorophyll accumulation in the whole plant and in its parts during the vegetation period as well as to establish the possible correlation of winter wheat yields with the chlorophyll content in its sowings. It was established that chlorophyll concentration depended on the rate of nitrogen fertilizers. The chlorophyll content in the whole plant and its parts of early wheat varieties was higher than that of the late ones. There was a positive correlation of wheat grain yields with the chlorophyll content in wheat plants.
