Dynamics of qualitative changes of total amino acids content in cocksfoot and red clover during vegetation in different regions of Latvia was investigated. Determination of amino acids was carried out by amino acid analyzer. Amount of total and essential amino acids in cocksfoot and clover decreased during vegetation, at the same time the level of amino acids in red clover was more stable and decreased not so significantly as in cocksfoot grass. Cocksfoot and clover contain a significant level of such essential amino acid as lysine, methionine, threonine, isoleucine in comparison with other locally produced kinds of feedstuffs. Obtained results can be used to make balanced rations on amino acids content for dairy cows with high milk yield.
