Latvian industry in the economic environment of the EU

The main aim of the project was to investigate the development tendencies of Latvia's industry in the period of economic reforms as well as the EU and world investors' influence on the growth of different activities in that branch. The economic and financial situation of Latvia's industry as well as the dynamics of European investments in different regions of Latvia have been analysed. The following conclusions have been drawn: (1) foreign investors' interest in Latvia's industry is sustainable and increasing, (2) the Latvia's foreign trade reorientation to the EU countries is carrying on, (3) the government has to develop a mechanism to make investors be interested not only in the already developed centres, but in the periphery as well.
