The effect of hybridization on fattening and carcass traits of Lithuanian White pigs

In 1997-99, the effects of various specialized pig breeds on fattening and carcass traits of Lithuanian White pigs were investigated. Seven experimental groups of pigs were formed for this study. Fattening performance of experimental pigs (n=177) was determined and control slaughtering data obtained. The study indicated that LW x GLW and LW x FL pigs showed the highest performance. The boars in all groups had a positive influence on the carcass traits of Lithuanian White pigs. LW x GLW and LW x P pigs had the highest results for the lean meat content.
