Mash vs crumble feeds on the growth performance and carcass characteristics of 3-way cross progenies involving pekin, Philippine Mallard and muscovy ducks

A total of 80 day-old ducklings were used to determine the effects of feeding mash and crumble feeds on their growth performance and carcass yield. The ducklings were produced from the mating of Muscovy drakes to the F1 females of the Pekin drake x Philippine Mallard duck mating. The ducklings were raised up to 7 weeks of age. Data gathered were analyzed using T-test. Results showed no significant difference between ducklings given mash and crumble feeds in terms of body weight and carcass yield. However, feed conversion ratio was improved for ducks given crumble feeds. Results of this study suggest that body weight and carcass yield are not significantly affected by the form of the feed given. Crumble feed appeared to have improved the feed conversion ratio and reduced the amount of feed wastage of ducks
