Fifteen ram lambs aged five to seven months were randomly allocated to five dietary treatments in a randomized complete block design with three animals per treatment. The treatments used in the study were T1 (napier only); T2 napier with 10 percent CP [crude protein]; T3 napier with 12 percent CP; T4 napier with 14 percent CP: T5 napier with 16 percent CP. The animals were fed napier as basal diet on ad libitum while concentrates was given at 1 percent of of the liveweight of ram lambs. The animals were housed in individual feeding crates for two weeks adaptation period and 90 days feeding period. It was shown that the highest liveweight gain was obtained by ram lambs fed 16 percent CP with 52.2 grams followed by those fed 14 percent CP with 44.13 g; 12 percent CP with 42.60 g; 10 percent CP with 39.63 g while sheep fed napier only had 14.82 g. In terms of feed efficiency, ram lambs fed with 16 percent CP concentrate required 16 kg feed (DM basis) in order to produce a kg liveweight gain, while ram lambs fed 14 percent; 12 percent, and 10 percent CP required 19, 21, and 22 kg feed, respectively. On the other hand, ram lambs fed napier only takes 59 kg feed to produce a kg liveweight gain. Finally, the feed cost required to produce a kg liveweight gain was better in ram lambs fed concentrate having 16 percent CP with P47.74 while those fed 14 percent, 12 percent and 10 percent CP had P52.20, P64.16 and P66.07, respectively while it costs P135.18 for those fed on sole napier diet. These results indicate that the growth performance of ram lambs in terms of liveweight gain, feed efficiency and feed cost to produce a kg liveweight gain was better in sheep fed concentrates as supplementary feed than in unsupplemented animals
