This paper describes some observations on the population density of Pyrodinium, a red tide causing organism in Taguines Lagoon, Benoni, Mahinog, Camiguin. This organism was present from July 1992 to Dec 1996 at different levels of cell density. Toxicity tests show that toxin levels of the mussels meat samples Perna viridis correlate with the increase in the population density of Pyrodinium bahamense var. compressum. Some climatological conditions as rainfall and monsoon winds coincided with the increase of cell density and its peak of occurrence, respectively. This cell density has been detected to concentrate inside the lagoon area which is favorable for the germination of resting cysts and/or proliferation of vegetative cells
