Growth and morphological variation in Anacropora puertogalerae (scleractinian) transplants

Coral transplant has been utilized to determine whether growth and morphological variations occur in different environments. The scleractinian coral Anacropora puertogalerae was translocated to different areas in Puerto Galera Bay, Oriental Mindoro [Philippines]. Preliminary results indicate that linear growth measurements of the transplants wherein the branches were more tightly packed and possessed more secondary branches. The differences in the physical factors (i.e. water motion and sedimentation) that characterize each transplant site are implicated to be responsible for causing the ecomorphological variations
