Yield and quality of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) as affected by irrigation pattern
1999
Majid, A. (National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad (Pakistan). Seed Science and Technology Program) | Simpson, G.M.
The effect of three irrigation regimes (full, medium, minimum) alongwith one dry conditioned (DC) treatment on yield and quality of Brassica juncea L. was studied in 1991 and 1992 at Saskatoon. Full irrigation increased the seed yield by 57 and 44 percent in 1991 and 1992, respectively. Irrigation increased seed-oil content, but did not have a significant effect on seed-protein and glucosinolate content. There was inconsistent effect of irrigation on fatty-aid composition. The palmitic, stearic and oleic acids were decreased with irrigation, while linolenic acid was increased. Irrigation did not effect the erucic acid.
