Content of nitrates and nitrites in many popular fresh vegetables grown in conventional and ecological farms and sold in special shops with "healthy food" was measured. The highest content of nitrates was found in vegetables grown in conventional farms. Levels of nitrites in ecological, conventional and "healthy food" vegetables were similar - below 2 mg nitrites/kg
