We studied the effect of two different feed mixtures on parameters of fattening capacity, carcass value and meat quality in hybrid pigs. The control group was fed the feed mixture OPO on the basis of soybean meal (12%) with the content of 86.82% dry matter, 17.54% crude protein, 4.05% fibre, 1.95% fat, 8.4% lysine, 12.27 MJ ME. The experimental group was fed the mixture OPO/H in which soya was substituted by pea (10%) with the content of 86.93% dry matter, 16.42% crude protein, 5.61% fibre, 2.09% fat, 0.81 lysine, 12.13 MJ ME. The pigs were housed in pens by two and they were fed ad libitum. The experiment started at 30 kg and ended at approx. 110 kg Lw. We determined the parameters of fattening capacity, carcass value and meat quality after the slaughter. The average daily gain was 815 g (OPO) and 835 g (OPO/H), feed consumption per kg gain was 3.30 kg and 3.24, respectively. Meat performance expressed in proportion of valuable lean cuts was 51.34 and 49.96% with average backfat thickness 2.35 and 2.44 cm. The differences found in parameters of fattening capacity and carcass value were statistically nonsignificant except for the proportion of less valuable parts and depth of musculus gluteus medius. Meat quality expressed in pH value, colour and electric conductivity did not show statistically significant differences in the studied groups. We can state that pea included into the feed mixture in the place of soybean meal decreased significantly neither the fattening capacity, carcass value nor the meat quality. Therefore the feed mixture OPO/H could be used more frequently in fattening of pigs. Utilization of home sources of proteins could be interesting also for the pork producers from the economical point of view
