Water balance and crops irrigation requirements over the whole irrigated area of Slovakia were assessed on a weekly basis throughout the irrigation season, based on data obtained from 31 meteorological observatories located in various irrigation regions of Slovakia. Water balance and crops irrigation requirements were calculated using the biological curve of crops water requirements by means of an innovated PC program. Irrigation users were provided with respective data on a weekly basis. The present paper evaluates irrigation doses (and irrigation rates) and quantities of irrigation water required by respective crops in the growth period, as well as fluctuations in soil water supply, on irrigated and nonirrigated soil, fluctuations in actual and potential evapotranspiration and the ratio thereof, separately for individual regions covered by meteorological observatories. With a view to the area of irrigated soil, soil and crops structure, evaluation of irrigation water requirements is given for respective districts, regions and Slovakia as a whole. In addition, actual weather components are being assessed in relation to longterm average values
