Introduction and research of alochtorial Amaranthus species

Among introduced species perspective for the Slovak conditions there are Amaranthus caudatus L., A. cruentus L., A. hypochondriacus L., A. hybridus L. In the first year of the subject stage solving the main aim was to gather amaranth genotypes from the world assortment regarding the need of genetic diversity conservation and to select genotypes suitable for the conditions of the Slovak Republic. Currently, the collection of amaranth genetic resourceshas - 120 accessions. The genetical resources has been obtained from the gene banks of the Research Institute of Plant Production Praha-Ruzyne and RIPP Piestany, Iowa State University, Botanical Garden of Slovak Agric. Univ. Nitra and other institutions abroad, active in the sphere of genetic resources and by means of exchange through Index seminum system
