The catchment of the Upper Ostravice River is situated in the north-east direction from Ostrava, in majority in the central part of the Moravia-Silesian Beskids and on the hills below the Beskids called Podbeskydska pahorkatina. For the purpose of this paper one may understand the spring area of the Ostravice River, the surroundings of the Sance dam reservoir, the basins of the Celadenka torrent and the Ostravice River to its confluence with the Moravka River. The aim of the paper was to evaluate the water regime of the Ostravice upstream catchment during the period between 1970 - 1996 and to identify the changes which were created as a consequences of water management and other human activities. There are also derived the magnitude of the discharge and water temperature influences and similarly judgement of suspended sediments regime
