The trends of technological innovation in cattle breeding

The way of technological modernisation used at present Slovak cattle housing are presented in the paper. The basic limits for housing of animals according to Slovak as well as European animal welfare legislation are mentioned there as well. The parameters of the most used types of housing for cattle as lying cubicles, loose pens and calving pens for dairy cows, hutches and bedded pens for calves are suggested. An example of reconstruction and modernisation of stall to housing with laying cubicles for dairy cows is designed and described. Some suggestions how to establish a reasonable capacity of milking parlours, and a ventilation type for reconstructed barns are presented in the paper, too. The problem with manure handling and storage in Slovak cattle farm are discussed in the last part
