Effects of dietary ascorbic acid supplementation and increased energy levels on laying performance and egg quality under tropical conditions

Experiment was conducted in laying hens with 3 levels of ascorbic acid (0 100 and 200 ppm) and 2 levels of metabolizable energy (2,700 and 2,800 Kcal/kg) in isonitrogenous corn-soy basal diets (18 percent protein) from 45-61 WOA in order to investigate the optimal levels of ascorbic acid and ME for laying hens rearing under tropical conditions. No significant differences in daily energy intake, feed/dozen egg, feed cost/dozen egg, mortality, egg weight, egg mass, egg specific gravity and shell thickness were observed among the dietary treatments.
