Effect of light intensity on growth and yield of sweet pepper
1997
Sutharthip Garnrugsa
Sweet pepper cv. California Wonder was grown under 30 50 70 and 100 percent light intensity at Tropical Vegetable Research and Development Center (TVRC), Research and Development Institute Kasetsart University (KURDI), Kampangsaen Campus during December, 1994 to March, 1995. At 70 percent light intensity, sweet pepper had shown the greatest yield (803.27 g/pl) but 30 percent light intensity had the least yield (184.69 g/pl). Yield had related to height, diameter of canopy, leaf area and accumulation of dry weight throughout the experiment. At 70 percent light intensity, sweet pepper had shown the greatest crop growth rate, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate, leaf area index and harvest index while leaf area ratio and specific leaf area showed the greatest under 30 percent light intensity. Leaf area index, crop growth rate and stem dry weight showed additive correlation to fruit dry weight.
