The characteristics of the new winter wheat cultivar Tara

The Tara winter wheat cultivar developed from the cross combination Una x KG-56 and approved by Yugoslav Federal Commission of Cultivar Approvement in 1997. The Tara cultivar is medium early. The resistance to low temperature is good, the resistance to lodging is excellent. The height of plant is about 95 cm. The Tara cultivar has good resistance to leaf rust, and thigtly less to stem rust and powdery mildew. The potential of grain yield is more than 10 t/ha. The mass of 1000 grains is about 34.0 g, the hectoliter mass of grain is 83.0 kg. The grain quality is very good, belongs to subclass A2 and 2nd quality group estimated by protein content and sedimentatition volume. This cultivar has good milling and almost very good baking quality, it is very good bread variety.
