The total number of bacteria, the number of azotobacter, actinomycetes and fungi, the activity of dehydrogenase and protease and chemical characteristics were determined in rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soil under walnut-tree, peach-tree and apricot-tree. The soil samples had acidic reaction. The percent of humus varied from 2.12 to 3.07, the percent of total nitrogen from 0.140 to 0.202, the content of P2O5 from 1.10 to 5.40 mg/100 g of soil and content of K2O from 19.00 to 38.40 mg/100 g of soil. The total number of bacteria varied from 34.64 to 115.45 x 10**6/g of soil, fungi from 3.00 to 22.50 x 10**3/g og soil, actinomycetes from 4.51 to 14.34 x 10**4/g of soil and azotobacter was not detected. The activity of dehydrogenase was low except the rhizosphere of apricot-tree. The results show that the examined soil had low microbiological activity as well as low content of humus and phosphorus.
