Two-stage anaerobic treatment process, with separate utilization of biogas from the first and second stage, is one of process variants which is suitable for treatment of heavy loaded wastewaters. In this paper, consistent system of criterions for evaluation of successfulness of this kind of process is formulated, based on: substrate consumption, quantity of produced methane, efficacy of methane production, and concentration of methane in biogas. These criterions may help in significant manner in control of two-stage anaerobic treatment process; otherwise, on the basis of these criterions effects of investigations of anaerobic treatment process on lab and/or pilot scale may be evaluated, in procedure of data obtaining for design of large scale equipment for anaerobic treatment of concrete wastewater.
