Taxonomical, zoogeographical, and ecological study of copepods (Crustacea, Copepoda) from continental waters of Adriatic drainage area of Montenegro [Yugoslavia]
1999
Karanovic, T.
The copepoda fauna in all types of continental water biotopes in Montenegro (Yugoslavia) was studied in the period 1993-1999. Material was collected on 234 localities. One hundred and sixtheen species from 58 genera, 6 families and 3 orders were found, of which 53 species were found in investigated area for the first time. Eleven species are new for the science, and for one species was given first description of male. Six species are established as the new combinations, and our knowledge of the distribution of 12 species is enlarged by these investigations. Many taxonomical problems were solved, and more then 30 new synonyms were established. In ecological analysis 12 different types of biotopes was found, almost everyone with their characteristic species. For every species relative number was given on the proper biotope (with number from 1 to 5). In zoogeographical analysis it was found that the copepoda fauna of continental waters of Adriatic drainage area of Montenegro (Yugoslavia) is formed of 12 elements. In investigated area a strong anthropogenic influence was recorded.
