Relationships between longevity and lifetime production characteristics and genetic polymorphism of milk proteins were studied in 288 Red-Pied and Black-Pied dairy cows. For example, the presence of kappa casein B allele increases the casein number (from 82.2 to 84.4 %). Thanks to specific reasons (relative increase of Black-Pied stock, crossing of red-Pied population with high-yielding dairy breeds) the frequency of kappa casein B allele in the Czech dairy cow population decreased during the last 30 years from 42 % to about 31 %. To stop this trend it is necessary to adopt a new breeding strategy.
