A new method for the determination of methylmercury in fish tissue is briefly described and discussed. The first step is an alkaline digestion treatment by KOH. The second step is an extraction procedure using solid phase extraction after complexation by APDC chelate compound. This phase is a critical moment in all analysis. The third step is a HPLC separation. The last step is an UV/VIS detection. This detector is not ideal for the determination of methylmercury, because its level of sensitivity is too low. Recoveries of added methylmercury and its absolute detection limit were 96.6 % and 41 ng, respectively.
