During the last 15 years, the sheep population decreased all over the world, but it still remains an important food source. In many countries the sheep breeding is supported by special programs. The main original target on wool production moves towards meat and milk production. In addition to the information about sheep numbers, production and breeding methods in European Union, France, Austria, Poland, Germany, New Zealand, Slovakia and Czech Republic, the monography deals with many other aspects of sheep breeding. Details are given of the different factors affecting meat, milk and wool productions and reproductive parameters. The best breeding methods are recommended. A special chapter provides information on sheep feeding and nutrition. The most important diseases, their symptoms, control and prevention are also reviewed.
