In 1991-1992 and 1999, concentration of 11 foreign substances were monitored in carp tissues (muscles, liver, kidneys and genitalia) and in bottom sediments of the Dremliny pond in the Czech Republic. The following substances were studied: Hg, Pb, Cd, Zn, Cu, Cr, PCB, HCH, DDT, HCB and OCS. The concentrations of all the studied substances in fish muscles were within the tolerance limits. There were no statistically significant differences between the two period studied, except of mercury and chromium concentrations. The mercury content was higher and the chromium content lower in 1999 than in 1991-1992. The bottom sediments were slightly contaminated with PCB, chlorinated pesticides, HCB and OCS but in 1999, these contaminations were already low or beyond the limit of determination.
