Barley yield losses caused by soil compaction were simulated using Swedish soil compaction model with was developed by Arvidsson and Hakansson. The calculations were based by compaction with typical machines for Lithuanian conditions in soil at 20 per cent clay content. Influence of traditional machinery systems with minimum and maximum traffic as well as improved wheel and tyre equipment were estimated. Traffic by tractor with single wheels and high inflation pressure, as well as by heavier tractor T-150K should be avoided. Operating with low-pressure tyres significantly decreased crop yield losses. Equipping the tractor with duals is effective only in machinery system with minimum traffic
