The objective of this research was to determine the effect of nitrogen rates from 0 up to 200 kg N ha (-1) on the yield structure and formation and yield quality of winter triticale cultivars 'Modus', 'Dato', 'Tewo', 'Presto', 'Vision', SV 92280, 'Lasko' and 'Dagro'. Nitrogen was applied as ammonium nitrate top-dressed in the spring at the beginning of triticale regrowth. The protein content of different winter triticale cultivars was determined at the Inst. of Animal Husbandry EAU. Regression, correlation and dispersion analyses were performed on the data. On the basis of the results of the trial the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Weather conditions impact to the results significantly. The vegetation period of 1999 was very dry. 2. Increases in nitrogen fertilizer rates increased grain protein content significantly. Higher protein content had cultivars 'Tewo', 'Dato' and 'Presto' and cultivar 'Modus' had the lowest grain protein content. 3.Depends on using we have to choose suitable winter triticale cultivar. Cultivars with low protein content are recommend to use in industry, cultivars with high protein content are recommend to use as a food and feed
