We investigated the cicada community of conventionally treated apple and pear orchard during one vegetation period in 1999.The fieldwork took place in the fruit plantation of University of Horticulture and Food Industry in Szigetcsép, near Budapest.Collecting methods were sweep netting and using of Malaise traps.Three Malaise traps were operated: one in the apple orchard, one in the edge of the orchard (between the orchard and neighbouring forest) and one in the forest. The community of the edge showed similarity to both other communities. Here was the largest number of species and individuals, from this area individuals can immigrate to the orchard.
