1) The new strawberry cultivar "Saga Ph2 " Fragaria x ananassa DUCH was relaesed in 1997 by crossing between "Oonishiki" and "Toyonoka" in 199l at Saga Prefectural Agriculture Research Center. 2) The growing of the plant is relativel vigoraus. Leaves are large and dark green. The leaf count and blanching are few. The rest in winter is as shallow as that of "Toyonoka". The plant is not so dwarfed the forcing culture that gibellelin application is not necessary from secondary fruit cluster. 3) "Saga No.2 " is susceptible to Powdery mildew caused by Sphaerstheca humuli (de CANDOLLE) Burrill and Crown rot caused by Glomerrella cingulata (Stoneman) SPAULDING et SCHRENK in the find. 4) The flower buds of terminal flower cluster is differentiated in the middle of September. The secondary and tertialy fruit cluster are formed continuously. The total yield continuing until April is higher than "Toyonoka". 5) The fruit is large in size, conic in shape and has shiny scarlet skin color. The flesh is firm and skin is hard, so "Saga No.2 " has good transportability and high keeping quality. 6) Even at the low temperature, "Saga No.2 " has many normal fruits and the marketability is a fairly good. 7) The fruit has high sugar content and low acid content, so the taste is good
