In order to establish the basal cultivation method by using the no-till seeder, developed at Aichi Agriculture Research Center, the growth of rice plants under the no-till direct seeding culture (NT-plot) was compared with rice plants from transplanting culture (TR-plot). The plant height and number of tillers in the NT-plot was always superior to the TR-plot. The pushing resistance of the NT-plot was higher than the TR-plot. Ground dry weight at the maturing stage of the NT-plot was distributed higher than the TR-plot. the panicles of the NT-plot were obtained mainly from the third to the fifty primary tiller. The number of root dry weight ratio on the NT-plot was larger in quantity than the TR-plot by 0-5 cm width and 0-5 cm depth. There was no significant difference in the grain yield, grain quality and eating quality between the NT-plot and the TR-plot. But, relating to the increase of seedling on NT-plot, it was recognized that the number of panicles per square meter was increased, the number of grains per panicle decreased, the number of grains per square meter increased, and 1,000 grain weight decreased
