A study was made about utilization of near-infrared analysis as method of measuring protein content of making barley accurately with small volume and method of measuring in the state of grains. In measurements made by using crushed samples, measuring accuracy with a standard deviation of 0.24 was obtained even when the amount of required sample was reduced to 1.1g in measurements made without destruction of grains, measurement of nitrogen was possible with a standard deviation of 0.26 which is an accuracy sufficiently high from the practical viewpoint. By using this method, it becomes possible to make measurements quickly even at producers' level, and this method can therefore be utilized for the purpose of cultivation guidance
