Experiments were conducted to study the effect of artificial aging treatment on seed germinablilty, water uptake rate and seed component which could be meaningful information to observe the degree of deterioration among Adzuki bean varities. Seeds were artificially aged at 100% relative humidity and 45 degrees centigrade to get different seed qualities. Water absorption capacity(WAC) after 8 days of aging treatment was significantly increased until 24 hours of imbibition at 27 degrees centigrade, but there was no signicant differences in WAC between the non-aging and 4 days of aging treatment. Thus, it appears that WAC after 8 days of aging treatment is related to germinability. In 8 days of aging treatment, small grain variety. Chungwonpat, showed lower tendency in WAC than large grain varieties, Chilbopat and Chungjupat. The amount of totoal fatty acid was decreased as increasing duration of aging in three varieties. Total fatty acid contents of Chngwonpat were lower than those of Chilbopat and Chungjupat variety. As decreasing germinability, anthocyanin content of Chilbopat was tend to be decreased. Thus, it appears that the germinability of Chilbopat is closely related to its pigments concentration. Judging from the result that anthocyanin pigments was not dectected in Chunwonpat which had high-vigor but detected in Chilbopat. It is interpreted that anthocyanin pigments is the one of various factors related to seed germinability.
