The present studies were designed to examine the influence of treatment of estradiol 17eta(E2) and aspiration of large ovarian follicles before superovulatory treatment on the appearance of small follicles, and then examined the effects of treatment of Gn-RH before insemination on collection of embryos from uterus in Japanese black cows with poor competence for embryo production. Cows received a CIDR-B device into vagina at any stage of estrous cycle (Day 0). In 8 cows (total number of 16 cows), whose the mean period of non-pregnant condition was 617.4 +- 340.0 days, embryos were collected from uterus 2 times at 35 days interval. A 5 MHz linear-transducer with needle (60 cm length, 18G) connected to an ultrasound-guided scanner was used for the observation of follicles on both ovaries. Follicles observed were divided into 3 types according to their diameter (Small type; 2-4mm, Middle type; 5-7, Large type: 8mm
