The objective of the investigations was to find out the correlation between the nitrogen content in soils and the meteorological conditions during the growing season of cereals in order to give recommendations to farmers concerning the use of N fertilizers. The soil samples for Nmin content were taken at the depth of 0-20 cm and 21-40 cm during fertilization trials in spring. During the growing season the samples were taken every month. The soil characteristics data and the meteorological conditions were considered. The correlation between the Nmin (nitrate nitrogen) in soil and the value of the hydrotermic coefficient during the growing season was ascertained using the correlation-regression analysis of the obtained data.
