Role performance of members and accomplishments of the people organizations in the Itogon [Mt. Province, Philippines] watershed sub-project

Majority of the respondents were middle aged, classified "low" in the following variables: educational level, training, income and experiences in organizational activities. Almost half of the respondents were farmers, majority being share tenants. Members had high role performance in representing the interest of the community, protection and management of natural resources, implementation of land use activities, but has low role performance in planning, monitoring and evaluation and in the implementation of livelihood activities. Community organizing was perceived by the respondents as successful in forming strong POs [peoples organizations] and gaining satisfactory participation from communities. Most of the respondents perceived that the POs are still not self-reliant although most of them were satisfied with the benefits derived from the project, as well as the project's financial management. Awareness about IWSP [Itogon Watershed sub-project] ranged from average to high. Knowledge regarding CBFM [Community Based Forest Management], CRMF[Community Resources Management Framework] , and RUP [Resource Use Plan]/AWP [Annual Work Plan] was low but the attitude towards the IWSP management was average. Most of the land use activities were still in progress and the implementation of livelihood activities has not yet started. From the findings of this study, age, civil status, occupation, tenure, experience, meeting the number of position were significantly related to at least one measure of role performance of PO members in various activities. Role performance of PO members in various activities was found to be significantly associated with at least one measure of accomplishments. Similarly, age, civil status, tenure, education, distance, household size, experience, meetings and trainings were found significantly related to at least one measure of accomplishments of the project
