Bacterial wilt [BW] caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is the most important disease limiting the potato production in mid-elevation areas of Bukidnon [Philippines]. To help solve this problem in a more sustainable manner, the cropping pattern potato-corn-beans-potato (P-C-B-P) was evaluated at the farmers' field in three locations at Talakag, Bukidnon in collaboration with Mindanao Potato Center. The three locations were characterized by different agroclimatic conditions and soil types (Lirongan: clay loam soil; Miarayon and San Miguel: sandy loam soil) and had the same treatments (cropping pattern, variety and fertilizer level). Findings of the study revealed that planting corn and beans after potato reduced BW population across three locations. Insignificant differenCes on yield and yield components per location and variety were observed. The fertilizer rate of 120-360-360 kg/ha of N, P2O5 and K2O gave an average of 274% ROI [return on investment] across locations due to high processable yield specifically in Markies variety. Miarayon sites had lower BW incidence in all trials because of good porosity and good drainage of sandy loam soil. BW incidence was high in wet and clay type soil like in Lirongan. BW management in potato using cropping system approach could reduce the slash and burn farming system because the farmers do not need to open a forested area to avoid BW incidence for potato production. Planting potatoes in inappropriate area and location leads to high BW incidence and low production. The area should be weed-free, no BW alternate hosts and no volunteer plants
